Thank you for making WIS3 a success-Outbriefs and notes from WIS3

Thank you to those who made the Workshop on Information Sharing and Safeguarding Standards (WIS3), or Standards Palooza, such a success – standards development organizations, technology associations, civilian agencies, defense and intelligence agencies, ISE state and local partners, and the procurement community all came together to work on information sharing.Industry Leaders Panel at WIS3

Workshop and Panels
WIS3’s panels of industry and government leaders discussed the challenges and opportunities with standards-based information sharing. Leaders from OMG, OGC, OASIS, NIEM, and IJIS came together to discuss standards compliance and horizontal synchronization of standards efforts. The day ended with a panel of senior government officials from ODNI, DHS, DOS, and DOD, who shared their reactions.

The key collaborative component of the event was the four breakout sessions and following are the session leads' summary and conclusion presentations - and I'd like to personally thank OMG, AFEI, IJIS, and ACT-IAC for hosting such productive breakout discussions.

A Rich Community
Our office is committed to building on the event and continuing to strengthen this community of action. The WIS3 presentations, meeting materials, and session notes and results will be posted here on ISE.gov in the coming weeks. Additionally, I will be continuing this discussion and presenting about these topics at OMG in Santa Clara next week.

I think the breakout summaries would be much more useful if they were actually written out as short papers, in full paragraphs. In their current state, they are little more than a jog to the memory of people who actually attended each breakout session, and can "fill in the blanks" in the presentation slides.

Thanks for your comment. We've posted all of the presentations from the breakout sessions on ise.gov/wis3 (in the agenda section). Summaries of discussion notes are coming soon.
